SAN DIEGO – Police are looking for a man who reportedly drove up alongside his ex-girlfriend’s car and opened fire on it early Thursday morning in San Diego’s Rolando neighborhood.
According to San Diego police, the shooting occurred at around midnight on College Avenue, south of University Avenue. A police watch commander told 10News a man drove up alongside his ex-girlfriend’s white car while she was inside it with her new boyfriend.
The man then allegedly pulled out a gun and fired shots into the white car, causing it to veer off the road and crash into an embankment. The suspect then drove away.
No one inside the car was injured by the gunfire. The bullet shattered a driver’s side window. The victims then called 911. The suspect was reportedly driving a Dodge Challenger. He may have had another occupant in the car.
Meanwhile, while being questioned by investigators, the woman and her new boyfriend changed their narrative of the events that led up to the shooting, the watch commander said.
Police are still trying to piece together the exact circumstances of how the shooting transpired.
