SAN DIEGO – Hundreds of people are expected to attend the funeral mass of Father Henry Rodriguez Thursday, a longtime community leader and San Diego police chaplain who passed away last week.
The funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. at the St. Jude Shrine of the West parish in Southcrest.
Rodriguez died Aug. 4 after falling ill with pneumonia. He was 61-years-old. Hundreds of people attended a vigil in his honor Wednesday night at St. Jude, where Rodriguez served as an associate pastor and pastor between 1989 and 2005.
He was an SDPD chaplain for more than 25 years. Chief of Police Shelley Zimmerman will be among those speaking at his funeral mass.
He will be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately following.
