SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Unexpected power outages shut down service Thursday to thousands of San Diego Gas and Electric customers in central neighborhoods.

The outages took place on ten different circuits in downtown, Golden Hill, and Balboa Park, the power company reported.

Some 6,000 customers were affected. There was no word on what caused the outages.

SDG&E reported that most of the power would be restored by 1 p.m.

The downtown area was expecting big crowds Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. for the Holiday Bowl parade along the Embarcadero.
