SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A temporary staffing agency says they might have answers for federal employees furloughed by the partial government shutdown.

“There are probably 400 people I could put to work right now if I had them,” said Phil Blair with Manpower.

He says there are dozens of agencies in the San Diego area that provide the same service. Blair says the jobs can last anywhere from a week to three months.

For some federal employees, it may not pay the same as the job they’re furloughed from, but it can still help with bills.

“When you’re earning nothing, when you’re bored, and you’re sitting at home worrying, better to earn $15, $18 an hour, than nothing,” Blair said.

Across the board, he says jobs in manufacturing have the most openings for temporary employment.

Federal employees are bracing to miss a second paycheck on Friday.
