CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Chula Vista Police are investigating a reported theft that happened at a housing complex off Cabeza Cove.

The victims reported their dog missing and possibly stolen.

Dulce Guzman said they let their 13-year-old pug, Ruby, outside in their front patio area Thursday. It’s fenced off so they didn’t think there was a way for her to escape, and the fence is too high for her to jump over.

Ruby was also wearing a collar.

A neighbor’s security camera caught two women walking away carrying Ruby.

Guzman has never seen them before and can’t say for sure why they are carrying Ruby. But her family has been trying desperately to identify them as their best lead to find their dog.

They’ve checked local shelters, and Ruby hasn’t turned up in any of them. They’ve also made fliers and posted them along the complex.

“(Ruby) is fixed, so she can't have puppies,” Guzman said. “I think whoever took her might have thought she was younger. I mean, nobody is going to pay money to buy her, and she can't have puppies, so we just want her home.”

Police have not named any suspects in this case.
