IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - A South Bay couple fed up with “porch pirates” taking packages from their doorstep enlisted the help of their five dogs to get some revenge.
Imperial Beach resident Marisol Castillo said it was her husband’s idea to put dog poop inside an old Amazon envelope, but it was she who put it all together and documented every disgusting moment.
“I didn’t think I was going to be so grossed out about it. I was just thinking, 'We’re doing this, we’re going to put it out there, they’re doing to take it,'” Castillo told 10News.
She added, “I even put a little box inside and other stuff, so when they touch that, they would feel the envelope had something and they would reach for something.”
The couple placed the package on their doorstep and it didn’t take long for someone to take the bait.
Recently, the couple was home at around 10 a.m. as their surveillance camera captured two people going to their door and taking the envelope.
Not long after, a neighbor sent Castillo a picture of the discarded package and her personalized note, which read: “Happy holidays you piece of [expletive].”
Video of the incident has received a big response on social media.
Castillo said she hasn’t ruled out doing it again, and she wants others to know she can help them, too.
“I have five dogs. I can give as many presents as possible,” she said.
