Firefighters say this is a good time to check your tire pressure and undercarriage to ensure nothing is dragging that could spark a fire.
Firefighters urge drivers and passengers to keep from throwing cigarette butts out of the window as well.
Fire crews put out two other small spot fires along the 94 they believe were connected to the 1/4-acre fire.
Two lanes of traffic were shut down for about an hour and 20 minutes, causing back-up to Federal Blvd.
The lanes were reopened at about 4:15 p.m.
