LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) -- An immigrant who came on shore on a panga and later fell from a cliff at Blacks Beach was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday.
Shortly before 6:45 a.m., authorities received reports of a person who was seriously injured after falling at least 30 feet from a cliff near the Torrey Pines Gliderport, located in the 2800 block of Torrey Pines Scenic Drive.
Responding San Diego Fire-Rescue crews located the injured immigrant, and the victim was airlifted from the scene to the hospital.
An SDFD battalion chief told 10News they received a report that two other people were stuck on the cliff, but emergency crews did not locate them.
Border Patrol officials said a 22-foot panga washed ashore near on Blacks Beach at least two hours before the rescue, and six people on the boat were taken into custody.
According to the Border Patrol, the fall victim and the two others were believed to be boat occupants.
The two smuggling suspects were arrested, Customs and Border Protection posted on twitter.
