LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) - Concerns are growing for community members who enjoy going to Lemon Grove Park. Neighbors have witnessed illegal activity happening there day and night.
Most recently, a hypodermic needle was discovered near the playground.
“I kind of stopped and looked at it, and the kids are playing, and one kid goes by me on a scooter, and I thought I better pick that up," said Joseph Monroe, who found the needle.
Monroe says he's seen needles in the park before, but never that close to the playground.
“You have kids playing in the park, and there's hypodermic needles, I want people to know.”
One mom says she is not surprised.
“I actually don’t bring my kids to the park as often, and I know that sounds kind of sad, but I don’t do it for that same reason, just because you never know what’s going to happen, you don't know who's been in the park," said the Lemon Grove mother, who asked to remain anonymous.
The Sheriff's Department strongly advises anyone who finds a needle not to pick it up or handle it because it could lead to improper disposal or exposure to a dangerous material.
