CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) - The success of Carlsbad High School’s award-winning journalism program is due in large part to the guidance of teacher Doug Green.
The school partnered with 10News to take part in a National News Literacy Week project, designed to empower students to be better consumers of journalism.
“How this generation consumes news seems to be the biggest difference,” said Green, who has been teaching for 22 years.
Green told 10News reporter Amanda Brandeis he taught his students to think critically by learning who creates what they’re reading and watching.
“I love to think that they go home and read the newspaper, and they watch news, and I think they do more so maybe than students who aren’t in a program like this,” Green said.
