LAKESIDE, Calif. - A Lakeside mom told 10News she is afraid to let her children play outside after she learned a neighbor was charged with crimes against a child.

Alex Burger, 22, was charged with three felony counts of child abuse, and 10News learned all charges involve inappropriate sexual acts with children under the age of 16.

Burger pleaded not guilty to all counts and posted bail.

Courtney Williams, a mother of two children with another on the way, said her backyard is no longer safe.

"My husband is planning to put up a higher fence ? some kind of tarp or sheet ? We told the kids no playing outside ?," Williams said.

Williams added, "This person has been in my house before; he's been in the neighborhood, seen my kids."

Williams lives blocks from Tierra Del Sol Middle School, and she told 10News that Burger -- who has not been convicted -- should not be anywhere close to children.

"He shouldn't be living so close to the school," said Williams.

Williams constantly scouts the state's Megan's Law sex offender website, but it only tracks convicted sex offenders only.

"You just never know what these people are going to do," said Williams. "My daughter didn't even want to sleep in her own bed last night."

The county District Attorney's Office said there does not appear to be any restriction on Burger's bail.
