IRVINE, Calif. -- An Irvine man is recovering in the hospital after he said he was tortured by his boyfriend.

Will Rossetter said he got into an argument with his boyfriend, went to bed, then was woken up around 3 a.m. on Nov. 4 or 5.

“I woke up handcuffed,” Rossetter said. “He said that he was going to punish me with a psychopath; there was no expression on his face at all.”

Rossetter said his attacker dragged him to the shower and put him under water so hot that he received 2nd-degree burns.

“He also put a bag over my head, he gagged me, I was like screaming, I couldn’t breathe, he kept burning me at the same time,” Rossetter said. “I was screaming bloody murder, like, ‘please stop, please stop, what are you doing?!’”

Rossetter said the man also put out cigarettes on his forehead and nearly severed his genitals.

“I couldn’t escape, I didn’t know where my cell phone was,” he said.

Then, all of a sudden, Rossetter said the man stopped. Rossetter told 10News that there were never any signs before this, and that he had been dating the man for four months prior to the incident.

Irvine police arrested the suspect on Nov. 9, and he was initially held on $1,000,000 bail, but then was released on Nov. 14 because the district attorney refused to prosecute. That's why we haven't named him in the story.

With mounting medical bills, Rossetter’s friends have posted a GoFundMe account in hopes of raising money to pay for them.
