EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV)--Students at Granite Hills High School were sent home even earlier than scheduled on an early dismissal day due to a homemade smoke device that set off smoke alarms at the East County school Thursday morning.
El Cajon Police Department responded to reports of a ringing fire alarm at the school located at 1719 E. Madison Avenue at 10:10 a.m. to find the device had been set off inside of a boys' restroom.
No injuries or damage to the school was reported.
According to the Grossmont High School District's public information officer Catherine Martin, the device was deemed not to be a threat and students were released early.
