SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego hospitals are preparing for a busy flu season.

Influenza is a potentially deadly virus and vaccination is your best way to lower your chances of catching it, according to Sharp Health.

The flu causes 36,000 deaths and 114,000 hospitalizations every year, doctors said.

The best time to get vaccinated is October or November because flu season typically lasts from November through April.

Doctors recommend a vaccination every year because the strain of the virus may change, leaving patients vulnerable to the flu.
