ROSARITO, Baja California (KGTV)-A former rifleman with the U.S. Marines was arrested on suspicion of robbery Sunday, according to Mexican media reports.

The Afghanistan veteran James Tyler Yeager, 39, was arrested on April 23 following claims he robbed a home in San Antonio del Mar, which is located between Tijuana and Rosarito in Mexico.

Mexican officials confirmed Tuesday that they're investigating Yeager for possible involvement in a car theft ring and a series of residential burglaries.

Officials also said that they found stolen cars and equipment that could be used to falsify documents in Yeager's home in the coastal area of Baja California several months ago, however, several other individuals lived with Yeager at the time.

During Tuesday's press conference, Mexican officials also said Yeager was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Montana for sexual assault.

Officials would only confirm Tuesday that Yeager was arrested on a charge of robbery on Sunday.

Public information officer for U.S. Consulate General in Tijuana would only confirm his arrest and referred any further questions to Mexican authorities.
