SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A fast-moving fire raced up a hill on westbound state Route 94 in the Oak Park area, forcing nearby homes to be evacuated as crews doused the flames.
The fire was reported at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday near the 30th St. bridge.
Authorities told 10News several homes in the 2900 block of F Street were evacuated immediately. Flames got close enough to one home that the back fence was scorched.
Crews were able to knock down the flames and embers in about 10 minutes. Firefighters also watered down the hillside to prevent further flare-ups as residents were allowed to return to their homes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
