LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - One person was killed in a house fire that broke out in Lakeside early Friday morning.

The fire erupted at a house in the 9700 block of Emerald Hill Lane just after 4:15 a.m., Lakeside Fire officials said.

Crews arrived to find the home fully engulfed, but three people were able to escape.

Dispatchers said firefighters entered the home to look for a fourth person reported to be inside a bedroom. That person was pulled from the burning home but was declared dead at the scene.

The victim was not immediately identified.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire after 30 minutes. It was contained to the single-story, single-family house.

Although the fire is under investigation, officials said the home's garage was stacked with possessions up to its ceiling and the amount of charred clutter inside the house indicated it was also full of items.

No other injuries were reported.
