Fact or Fiction: Pope caught on 2005 World Series broadcast?

Posted

A story you may have heard claims Pope Leo XIV was caught on camera attending the 2005 World Series.

It's true.

Robert Prevost was clearly seen on the Fox broadcast during Game 1 of the World Series between his beloved Chicago White Sox and the Houston Astros.

After he was named Pope, there was a brief debate over whether Chicago-native Prevost was a Cubs or White Sox fan.

But his brother made it clear Pope Leo was always a Sox fan.

The future Pope's presence turned out to be a good omen for his favorite team.

The White Sox swept that World Series in 4 games for their first championship in 88 years.
