SAN DIEGO – A Good Samaritan followed a suspected drunken driver through downtown San Diego until the suspect flipped his car and smashed into several parked vehicles in Oak Park early Monday morning.
Sometime before 4 a.m. a Good Samaritan spotted a car driving erratically in downtown San Diego and called 911. The Good Samaritan followed the car onto State Route 94 for about five miles, all the while on the phone with California Highway Patrol dispatchers.
The suspect drove off the freeway and into the Oak Park neighborhood, where he plowed into three parked cars on Bayview Heights Drive, east of Kelton Road.
“I was following him from downtown, making sure he wasn't going to kill himself or someone else,” the Good Samaritan told 10News. “I was trying to stop him.”
Paramedics evaluated the suspect driver at the scene. He was not badly injured. He was arrested on drunken driving charges. His name was not released.
