A driver was detained after police said the motorist struck at least nine parked cars in the University Heights area.
The collisions were reported shortly after 6 p.m. on Monroe Avenue, near Park Boulevard, according to San Diego police.
Police said the driver struck a building, a parking meter and a Dumpster -- in addition to the parked cars -- before leaving the scene.
Witnesses said it all began with a fight over a parking space.
"He said 'I'm a Nazi and this is how we do it in New York,' before he slammed on the gas," Jason Russell said. Russell said the driver almost hit him while he was on the sidewalk.
The driver was tracked down a short distance later after hitting a parked car. 10News learned the motorist was found passed out behind the wheel, but it has not been determined if the driver was under the influence or had a medical emergency.
Paramedics took him away by ambulance.
The incident is under investigation.
