ORANGE COUNTY - Dashcam video released by the Orange County Sheriff's Department shows a man opening fire and shooting out a squad car.
The incident happened April 27 in San Juan Capistrano while sheriff's deputies were responding to a call about a suicidal man with a gun in the garage of his home.
The video, which shows shots flying through the air and deputies dropping to take cover, was just released this week.
No one was hit by the bullets and police said after firing dozens of rounds the suspect then came out, dropped his weapon and was taken into custody.
The responding deputies did not return fire during the incident. The sheriff's department said the deputies had poor sight lines and were concerned that they could not see anyone else who might have been in the garage.
