SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) - Families flocked to the Santee Drive-in Theatre Friday night, for it’s reopening.
Owner Mike Long says they closed on Mar. 10 due to the pandemic but received the green light to reopen on Wednesday. They worked quickly to open Friday putting in place social distancing measures.
The drive-in was only at 50-percent capacity as vehicles were asked to park every other space, creating a 10-feet distance between them. People were asked to stay in their cars and wear face coverings whenever they went outside. The snack bar also remained close, but families were encouraged to bring snacks.
“The Drive-In Theatre was open and decided to make a night of it, and we’re excited to do something normal,” said Deanna Dietz, who brought her family to the drive-in.
That was the sentiment many echoed, as many were eager to find activities that were allowed during the pandemic.
