SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego congressional candidate is using a popular app to meet voters.

Morgan Murtaugh is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in California’s 53rd congressional district.

On top of her regular campaign duties, she delivers food using the app Postmates to meet constituents.

“Going door-to-door, most people don’t want to answer their door to strangers,“ said Murtaugh. “I figured, what better way to help pay my bills and meet people and deliver their food for them."

The native San Diegan says she delivers Postmates on her lunch breaks and sometimes in the evenings anywhere from three to five times a week.

“I delivered a vape pen one time and he thought it was the coolest thing that someone running for Congress was delivering it,” said Murtaugh.

The 26-year-old conservative is the youngest candidate for Congress in the country says every person she has delivered to has been nice, despite the current political climate.

“It's been working out so far,” said Murtaugh. "People like meeting the candidate running for office in a nontraditional sighting.”

Democrat Susan Davis has held the 53rd district’s seat since 2003.
