(KGTV) -- A man was arrested at a Border Patrol checkpoint after agents discovered more than 65 pounds of cocaine hidden inside his truck.

Customs and Border Protection officials said the incident occurred on Dec. 13 at the Interstate 15 checkpoint near Temecula.

CBP officials said Border Patrol agents stopped a Dodge Ram truck near the checkpoint after it was seen driving erratically. During the stop, a K-9 alerted agents and a search was conducted.

During the search, agents found two metal boxes embedded in the truck’s seats.

According to CBP officials, agents opened the boxes and found 25 plastic-wrapped packages. Testing on the packages confirmed that they contained cocaine.

Officials said the estimated street value of the cocaine was $653,600. The drugs were turned over to the DEA.

The truck’s driver, identified as a 27-year-old Mexican national with a valid B1/B2 visa, was arrested.
