RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) - A Ramona teacher is being honored as the 10News Classroom Hero.
Dawn Lawless teaches kindergarten at James Dukes Elementary.
In her 16 years in the classroom, Lawless learned the key is to show children love and respect.
"I really put a big piece of my work into loving on them. I do love them like they're my own,” said Lawless, a mother of three.
Stephanie Miller, whose daughter is in Lawless’ class, is grateful.
“Whenever we see her around town, she's always giving her a big hug and she's always giving my daughter some sort of reassurance, I don't even know what she's saying but my daughter has a big smile on her face when she talks to her,” said Miller.
