SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Clairemont resident said her dog's barking is causing problems between her and her mail carrier.

Ann Glynn told 10News that several times in the last few months she'd received no mail but rather a note from her mailman saying that he wouldn't deliver because he didn't feel safe knowing her dog was near the metal security screen door.

The note asked her to either close both front doors or install a curbside box.

Glynn said her dog is harmless and secured behind the door.

She filed a complaint with the U.S. Postal Service, which told her it was within the carrier's discretion to determine whether the situation was unsafe and he was within his rights to ask her to change the situation.

In the meantime, Glynn said she would try to keep her 10-year-old Lab mix Rusty in the garage during delivery hours but worries he can still bark which may continue to prevent her from receiving her mail.

A USPS spokesperson told her that a supervisor would be contacting her soon to discuss the situation further.
