CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Medical Examiner identified Monday the man found dead in a street near Chula Vista's Discovery Park.

David Flores-Rodriguez, 23, was found lying in the middle of the road at the intersection of Buena Vista Way and Rancho Del Rey at 4 a.m. Sunday.

The woman who called 911 stopped to help but realized she recognized Flores when she turned his face to perform CPR.

"I believe it was one of my students when I was a teacher," she told 10News.

The woman later got in touch with the student's parents who confirmed to her that it was their son, she said.

Chula Vista Police believe Flores was skateboarding in the area when he was hit by car. Officers did not release information about the vehicle involved in the crash.
