SAN DIEGO — Christmas came early for a group of students at Baker Elementary School in Southeast San Diego Tuesday afternoon when they were surprised with new bicycles by the hometown team, the San Diego Chargers.
The Chargers collaborated with Bikes for Kids, a non-profit organization that raises funds to give away bicycles to students who attend inner-city schools.
Joey Bosa, Tyrell Williams and more players took turns riding in bikes to the school auditorium where the children sat patiently.
The initial plan was to surprise a few winners of an essay contest at the school, but it was soon revealed, to thunderous applause, that the entire group of students would get new bikes.
