CHULA VISTA, Calif. – No one was seriously hurt after a driver slammed into a fence on the side of a Chula Vista home early Wednesday morning.
Sometime before 2:30 a.m., a driver lost control at the intersection of J and I streets, crashed into a power pole and fence on the side of a home. He also sideswiped one parked car in the adjacent driveway in the process.
A family who resides in the home was woken up by the crash.
“My husband came running in and said there was a bad wreck outside and that I better get out there and take a look,” Deanna Tennis said.
Andrew Gulatto, who lives next door, also heard the noise.
“I was lying in bed and all the sudden there was just a loud crash,” Gulatto said. “I walked outside there was a car smashed into the side of mine.”
He grabbed the driver and held him until Chula Vista police could arrive on scene and take him into custody.
The driver, whose name was not released, was not seriously hurt. It was not immediately clear what charges he would face. Police are investigating.
A financial estimate of the damage to the home was not confirmed.
