Firefighters battled a brush fire in a residential area of Vista Monday afternoon that prompted the evacuation of some houses, according to authorities.
The fire was reported at 4:15 p.m. in the 200 block of East Bobier Drive near North Santa Fe Avenue, according to a dispatcher for North County Fire.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department had deputies staged at a few intersections in an effort to keep traffic away from the area, according to a sheriff's department spokeswoman.

At least 13 units had responded to the fire within the first hour, according to the fire dispatcher.
The fire was put out sometime before 7:30 p.m., according to the sheriff's department.
There were no reports of injuries and the cause had not yet been determined.
