SAN DIEGO (KGTV)--U.S. Border Patrol agents seized more than $100,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine and arrested a suspected smuggler near San Clemente.

Agents encountered the driver of a Nissan Sentra sedan at a gas station on Avenida Pico near Interstate 5 Sunday morning.  A Border Patrol K-9 gave agents a positive alert during a sniff test.  They searched the Sentra and found a secret compartment built into the vehicle's floorboards with 40 bundles of drugs inside.

The drugs weighed more than 40 pounds and had an estimated street value of $129,184.

Border Patrol agents have seized almost 2,000 pounds of methamphetamine in San Diego since the start of the year.
