Bomb squad personnel were called out to investigate an unidentified package found on top of a trash can at Eighth Avenue and E Street in downtown San Diego, a fire department spokesman says.
After hours of investigation, the package ended up being a box of used books.
Eighth Avenue was closed south of Broadway as a precaution.
The bomb squad took x-rays of the package to find out what was inside.
