DEL MAR, Calif. – A bluff collapsed overnight Monday, sending boulders, sand and rock plummeting onto a beach in Del Mar.

The bluff failure occurred sometime overnight and again Tuesday morning in between 10th and 11th streets, according to Del Mar Lifeguard Department. About 25 yards of sand and rock fell onto the beach. No homes were located above the bluff and there were no reported injuries. The collapse did not occur near a railroad track.

Lifeguards posted a sign on the beach warning passersbys. A city engineer was called out to examine the damage.
