(KGTV) - Investigators are looking into the death Sunday of a man who ran into flames at the iconic Burning Man Festival ceremony in Nevada.

Aaron Joel Mitchell, 41, broke through security during the Man Burn Saturday night.  The event features a giant, wooden effigy of a man which is set ablaze to mark the end of the annual festival.

About 50,000 people were present as festival firefighters pulled Mitchell form the flames, according to Pershing County Sheriff Jerry Allen.

Mitchell was flown to the UC Davis burn center, where he died Sunday.

A toxicology report is pending to determine if Mitchell was under the influence of drugs.

Mitchell was a U.S. citizen who was living in Switzerland with his wife.
