SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Six students at the University of California, Santa Cruz, have been arrested in a drug bust that turned up 5,000 tablets of MDMA.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that authorities said Monday that the three sorority women and three fraternity men are believed to have run an organized drug ring. Officials say the MDMA tablets are valued at more than $100,000.

Police spokesman Joyce Blaschke says multiple shipments of the drug, also called Ecstasy, were sent through the U.S. Postal Service from overseas and bound for the UC Santa Cruz students.

Police believe the fraternity and sorority were working together and had received multiple shipments in the past.

All six students are 21 years old. They were booked into jail Friday.
