LA MESA, Calif. - A Helix High School student faces discipline for spraying another student in the face with pepper spray in the school's library Wednesday.
According to school officials, the incident happened at about 8:30 a.m., and it involved a 15-year-old girl and a male student.
School officials said an argument between the girl and boy escalated, and the girl left the library but came back to spray the student.
Students told 10News that the girl apparently pepper-sprayed the boy because she did not like what he posted on social media.
Some other students in the library were hit with spray and were evaluated by a school nurse.
Parents were notified of the incident, and 10News learned no one was taken to the hospital.
La Mesa police arrested the 15-year-old girl, and she was eventually released to her parents.
Pepper spray is considered a weapon and is illegal to have on campus.
As police investigate the incident, school officials confirmed that the female student will be disciplined.
