VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Solutions for Change is working to combat family homelessness in North County.

They've recently opened 33 new apartments in Escondido and are building 33 more affordable housing units in Oceanside.

There's a waiting list of around 200 to 300 families to get in the program. Those selected first live in transitional housing in Vista while going through different courses related to work, parenting, and finances.

Now the nonprofit needs help from the community filling the new homes with furniture.

Their biggest needs are beds, dressers, and couches.

Other needs include love seats, upholstered chairs, end tables, coffee tables, lamps, TVs, twin beds, bunk bed, vacuums, kitchen items, linens, towels, blankets and double beds.

Solutions for Change can pick up items in the North County cities of Oceanside, Carlsbad, San Marcos or Vista.
