Apple has an urgent message for iPhone and iPad owners:  Make sure you download the newest iOS update for your device.

The company is warning of an unusual vulnerability right now, that can allows a hacker to get into your phone with an infected email or message.

The message contains a file that downloads malware into your phone if you click onto it, allowing a hacker access to your contacts and passwords. You do not even have to launch anything for the malware to install.

Many people don't worry about malware on Apple devices, unlike Windows computers, but this is one of those rare cases where iPhones have a vulnerability to a specific threat.

What You Need to Do

So Apple urges you to update to iOS 9.3.3 as soon as possible.

On most devices, the update will pop up when you turn it on, but many people dismiss updates for weeks. This is one update you don't want to postpone, security experts say.

To update your device, go to Settings, and click Software Update. Or go to this Apple support page.

That way, you don't waste your money.
