Syracuse University is considering kissing its kiss cam goodbye after a letter to the editor suggested it sends the wrong message at a time colleges are trying to end campus sexual violence.
The camera framed unsuspecting couples in a heart on the Jumbotron at the Carrier Dome while the game crowd cheered for them to kiss.
Manlius resident Steve Port said in a letter to Syracuse.com that he saw "horrifying" kiss cam behavior during Syracuse's Sept. 12 football game against Wake Forest. He says fans cheered as men forcibly kissed women who were clearly saying no.
Syracuse athletics spokeswoman Sue Edson says the university is taking time to assess the concerns.
In the meantime, the camera did not operate during Saturday's game against Central Michigan University.
