May Day rally demands livable wages

Hundreds of representatives of organized labor and Latino rights groups are scheduled to hold a May Day rally and march in downtown San Diego Sunday.

Participants in the event that begins at 1 p.m. at San Diego City College will demand livable wages and an end to deportations. The theme is "Workers Rights Have No Borders."

They plan to march to Chicano Park in Barrio Logan.

Groups involved include American Friends Service Committee, Association of Raza Educators, the International Socialist Organization, San Diego Immigration Rights Consortium, San Diego Education Association, Service Employees International Union and National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals.
