(KGTV) -- Happy birthday, Mickey and Minnie Mouse!
The beloved characters both turn 91 years old on November 18. On this day in 1928, the couple made their debut in Walt Disney’s black-and-white animated short “Steamboat Willie.”
Over the past 91 years, Mickey and Minnie have appeared in numerous films and TV shows. Their presence is always a big hit at Disney’s theme parks across the world.

Some things you may or may not know about Mickey and Minnie Mouse:
-- Their original names were Mortimer and Minerva, until Walt Disney’s wife Lily made her suggestions.
-- While Walt Disney privately admitted in 1933 that the pair are married, it has never been officially stated.
-- Mickey Mouse was the first animated character to be given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Mickey received his star on his 50th birthday. Minnie Mouse received her own star in 2018.
