(KGTV) - Of all the words or phrases we say every minute of every day, many Americans still can't seem to stand hearing "whatever," according to an annual poll .

For the ninth straight year, "whatever" sits atop the Marist College poll -- at 33 percent -- for the most annoying words or phrases we say.

However, the phrase "fake news" is a new addition to the poll and came in second at 23 percent. "No offense" came in third on the list, followed by "literally" (11 percent) and then "you know what I mean" (10 percent).

The Marist College poll surveyed 1,074 adults between Nov. 6-9, with a margin of error of plus/minus 3 percent.
