Woman calls 911, says she was shot in back in La Mesa home

LA MESA, Calif. - Police are investigating a shooting at a La Mesa home that left a woman injured.

According to La Mesa police, the shooting happened shortly before 11:45 a.m. at a home in the 5000 block of Keeney St.

Police said a 59-year-old woman called 911 to ask for help after she said she was shot in the back. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the woman was found lying on the floor near the front door of the home with an apparent gunshot wound to the back.

The woman, who was conscious when police and medics arrived, was taken to the hospital. Her condition is unknown.

A 2013 white Chevrolet Silverado -- registered to the residence where the woman was shot -- was reported missing but was later found unoccupied and in otherwise good condition at an undisclosed location.
