SAN DIEGO – Police arrested two men at gunpoint in connection with a suspected carjacking in Linda Vista early Tuesday morning.

Sometime before 1:45 a.m., a man called 911 to report that his Volkswagen bug was carjacked by two men while he was parked near Glidden Street and Linda Vista Road after getting off work. The suspects stole his wallet and phone and fled in his car. He went to his parents’ home and called police.

At around the same time as investigators were taking the victim’s statement, other officers happened to pull over the Bug on Interstate 805, near Murray Ridge Road, for driving without its headlights on.

As they were conducting the traffic stop, the officers learned this was the car that had been reported stolen. They drew their guns and told two men inside to surrender. The suspects complied peacefully.

The victim was not hurt. San Diego police are continuing to investigate.
