ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - An Escondido family is searching for clues that will lead them to their missing teen daughter.

Seraphine "Sera" Bustillos, 15, was last seen July 21, and the family's only clues are a missing pet snake and a slashed bedroom window screen.

"It's a mother's worst nightmare," said Eveline Bustillos.

The girl's father, Michael, told 10News they've contacted Seraphine's friends from school, but no one has seen her or heard from her.

Seraphine's 5-month-old ball python is also missing. The snake eats once a week, so the family is hoping their daughter will be seen buying food for her pet.

With no trace of their daughter, the family is turning to the Escondido community.

Anyone who sees the girl is urged to contact the San Marcos Division of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department at (760) 510-5200.
