SAN DIEGO -- Authorities have released the name of a motorcyclist killed while attempting to pass an SUV in the Bay Ho community Friday night.

According to the county Department of the Medical Examiner, the man was identified as Colin Reed Citron, a 32-year-old San Diego resident.

A 44-year-old woman was driving her 2007 GMC Yukon southbound in the 5300 block of Regents Road at 8:50 p.m. Friday when the Citron attempted to pass her in the same lane on his motorcycle, said Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.

The motorcycle swiped the Yukon, causing Citron to fall. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Heims said.

The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed, Heims said.

The medical examiner's office did not release an exact cause of death for Citron, who was wearing a helmet.
