SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego is the deadliest place on two major highways, according to Teletrac Navman.

The navigation company ranked America's roads based on the number of fatalities. Interstate 4 in Orlando was the deadliest highway, with 1.25 deaths per mile.

Interstate 5 between San Ysidro and Blaine, WA

.531 deaths per mile

43 deaths in San Diego County

Deadliest month: August

Deadliest day: Saturday

Deadliest time: 2-3 a.m.

Interstate 15 between San Diego and Sweet Grass, MT

.420 deaths per mile

20 deaths in San Diego County

Deadliest month: July

Deadliest day: Sunday

Deadliest time: 3-4 a.m.

The rankings were based on National Highway Traffic Safety administration data between 2011 and 2015.

Despite the findings, the United States is in the top 25 safest regions per kilometers driven, the World Health Organization said.
