No one was injured when a 16-year-old boy, who police later arrested, fired some shots into the vehicle of an Uber driver in the Valencia Park section of San Diego, a police officer said Sunday.

Negative posts about the Uber driver by his 16-year-old assailant triggered an argument between the two, which then escalated into the shooting, said San Diego police officer Robert Heims.

The teenager and an 18-year-old man were at Mission Beach, in the 5500 block of San Onofre Terrace, when they called an Uber driver to pick them up about 10:43 p.m. Saturday, Heims said.

The 16-year-old boy realized he left his phone in the driver's car, and the driver agreed to bring the boy's phone back to him once he had taken care of his present fare.

"The (present) fare went through the phone and saw he was talking bad about the Uber driver, so they began posting things on social media," he said.

"The Uber driver returned the phone and the 16-year-old got into an argument with the driver because of the posts."

The driver drove away, Heims said, and the 16-year-old boy fired several shots at the vehicle, shattering some of the windows. The 16-year-old was arrested a short time later.
