SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A North Park father says a clean syringe exchange in his neighborhood is attracting crime and he wants to see it moved.

The program has an RV that parks across the street from the North Park Library every Friday from 10-1 p.m.

"Paul" says he sees things happening there he definitely wouldn't want his two young kids around.

"There's drug use in and around the area even as little as ten minutes ago I saw a small drug deal going down so I think this kinda draws that element in, " he told 10 News.

Although the program operates with permission from the City of San Diego, it's privately funded and ran by Family Health Centers of San Diego.

The city's website says the program was created to address a public health crisis related to Hepatitis C and HIV which are exacerbated by the shared use of needles and syringes.
