ESCONDIDO -- Escondido police are seeking whoever fatally shot a man outside an apartment complex Monday night.
The victim was shot in the chest in the 1200 block of East Washington Avenue near South Ash Street around 10:30 p.m., Escondido police Sgt. Erik Witholt said. 911 callers said they heard gunshots and screaming.
Responding officers did CPR on the unidentified man. He was taken to Palomar Hospital, where he died.
Witholt said no arrests had been made. A suspect description and motive for the shooting was not immediately available.
